Close to 7,000 primary school students took this year’s primary school examinations. Of the 3,000 who passed, 26 were honored with certificates of recognition on 17 June 2009. Fifth among them was Angeles Itzab of Mary Hill RC School in Corozal.

Willie Cruz, Town Councillor, Sanitation and Health, is now making the rounds in Corozal Town, watering streets. People who live on non-paved streets are familiar with the dust problems caused by cars and trucks passing, especially those going fast. The dry season is as appropriately called the "dusty season" in Belize. The appearance of the bright lime-green truck is a welcome sight these days.

Since July of last year – Las Vegas Casino boss George Hardie Jr. and three of his security guards have been locked down in a Mexican jail. They were charged for an altercation that began in the Las Vegas Casino in the Corozal Free Zone that spilled over the border to Mexico which is when Hardie and his security guards were arrested. Their crimes were attempted murder of a Mexican – even though he was shot in Belize territory — and the smuggling of firearms into Mexico when they attempted to cross the Mexican border with their 9 milimeter guns.

Three Belizean security guards were sentenced to 10 years, and the US national Las Vegas Casino owner was sentenced to 7 years for chasing two Mexicans across the boarder last July, and shooting one of them.
