SuperMoon for Concert Sat 19 Mar

Sun 13 Mar 2011—SuperMoon for Moonlight Concert

ICA's Moonlight Concert by the Bay featuring local artists scheduled for Saturday night, will have a especially beautiful moon for the pleasure of Corozaleños, it will be a SuperMoon.

Super Moon is a word coined over 30 years ago to describe when a full moon occurs when it is at or near its closest approach to Earth. This can happen several times a year.

The Earth, Moon, and Sun are always in a line when the Moon is full. This alignment is termed a syzygy. When this occurs when the Moon is closest to Earth in its orbit, it is called perigee. So 19 March, 2011 the Moon alignment will be a perigee-syzygy, but Super Moon is much easier to say.

It should be a beautiful sight to see the SuperMoon rising on Corozal Bay on Saturday night. The Moon will rise as the Sun sets, and this will be approximately 6:00 pm.

Corozal Women Artists Featured in Exhibit

Mon 7 Mar 2011—Art Exhibit at Town Hall Features Corozal Women

Everyone is invited to ICA Corozal Comittee's exhibit celebrating the works of Corozal's women in art. The exhibit can be viewed at the Town Hall during opening hours, Mon-Fri, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Arte Con Voz de Mujer showcases mediums in textiles, sculpture, photography, dance, music, literature and more. After being at the Town Hall for the week March 7-11, the exhibit will travel to Art in the Park on March 12th, and in the latter part of the month to Corozal Community College, Escuela de Mexico, and the Seventh Day Adventist College.

A Corozal woman, Vilma Romero, pictured with the mayor of Corozal Town, His Worship Hilberto Campos, was recently honored nationally as the woman artist of the year. You can read the details of her artistic life at the exhibit, as well as of all the other nine women artists featured.

We are very proud to recognize the artistic achievements of the women in our community, and we hope that you can take the time to view their creations.

Valentine Celebration Extended!

Mon 14 Feb 2011—Valentine Art in the Park on February 19

The Corozal Valentine Celebration has been extended until midnight, Saturday, 19 February, 2011.

The weather caused the cancellation of the Valentine Edition of Art in the Park on 12 February. But people who had planned to come out and shop, enjoy the romantic music, and meet with friends in the spirit of love, can still do so on 19 February, 2011. Art in the Park and the celebration of Valentine's Day will be held!

Come and listen to the music of The Melody Man featuring Yoga Man.

The featured program will be poetry readings by Corozal adult poets.
