Wed 5 Mar 2014 Outside Magazine has named South Water Caye, Belize as the best beach of 2014.
There are hundreds of beautiful cayes along Belize’s Caribbean coast. Our pick is SouthWater Caye, east of Dangriga a 15-acre island inside the country’s largest marine reserve. You can paddle the shoreline, snorkel at night, and, if you’re lucky, dive with whale sharks off a nearby atoll. The Pelican Beach Resort is one of just three on the island and has eight sandy cottages, four kayaks, and a sister property on the mainland which makes transfers easy (from US 9/night) http://pelicanbeachbelize.com. Wed 19 Feb 2014 For the second year in a row, Ambergris Caye takes top honors. The beautiful Belize island offers the perfect blend of modern development and laid-back tranquility.
A mangrove swamp is the eye of this white beach island, the largest in Belize, and golf carts are the main form of transportation along the sandy roads. Reef divers drool over the Belize Barrier Reef and the Blue Hole, a 400-feet deep circle of limestone that teems with angelfish, elkhorn coral, cleaner shrimp and stalactites.— Trip Advisor For more ...
